How can I get library cards for my children?

Stop by the library service desk at any of our locations with your children, proof of your current address, and your valid photo ID. A child must be present to have a card issued in their name. The parent or legal guardian must be physically present when the child receives the card, as they will be financially responsible for any fees that are charged to the child’s account.

Teens (ages 13-17) may get a library card without their parent or legal guardian. They will need to bring a valid form of photo ID. When a teen receives a library card without the parent or guardian present, the library will notify the parent or guardian by mail. If the parent or guardian does not want the teen to have a library card, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to notify the library.

Children under 18 will be restricted from checking out certain materials, including R-rated films, M-rated video games, and Explicit-rated CDs. Please be aware that Freegal, hoopla, the Greater Phoenix Digital Library/Libby, and other digital library applications allow full access to all library card holders, including restricted minors.

Our library app makes it easy to keep track of what your children check out. Add their cards to your account and see everything in one convenient location.

What if my library card gets lost or stolen?

Notify the library immediately by calling 623-930-3600. We will block your account to stop anyone else from using it.

Anyone in possession of your library card or the associated keytag will be able to check out materials on your account. You are responsible for all materials and fees on your library account.

Replacing your library card is free. Just stop by the library service desk at any of our locations with proof of your current address and your valid photo ID.

If you have forgotten to bring your card when you visit the library, we can offer you a courtesy checkout with your valid photo ID.

Getting an eCard

We also offer eCards that you can obtain from home.  An eCard allows you to use the library's online resources, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming music and movies, educational databases, and more. An eCard will not permit you to check out physical materials like you can with a library card.

How can I get an eCard?

After submitting our online application form, you will receive an email containing your new eCard number and PIN as soon as possible. Please be aware that Freegal, hoopla, the Greater Phoenix Digital Library/Libby, and other digital library applications allow full access to all library card holders, including restricted minors.
