Volunteers comprise an important part of the library’s operations and perform a variety of duties. Whether you are an adult, student or senior citizen, employed or retired, you will be a welcome addition to the library team.

What is the minimum age to volunteer at the library?

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

What is the minimum time commitment required for volunteers?

Volunteers must be willing to commit to a regular schedule, as well as 2-4 hours per week of volunteering and a commitment of a minimum of 40 hours or 4 months of service, whichever is longer.

What if I want to volunteer for just a short amount of time?

If you are looking for a short-term volunteer experience (less than 40 hours), please call Cassandra Jarles, Library Volunteer Coordinator, at 623-930-3544 or email libraryvolunteers@glendaleaz.com to discuss your options. Short-term volunteer assignments are not always available, especially for an immediate need. It is best to contact the library as soon as possible.

Which volunteer positions are available?

There are volunteer opportunities at all library locations, although there may not be vacancies for all positions at any given time. Volunteers primarily assist with program preparation and participation, organizing and shelving materials, and other tasks.

Does the library accept volunteers to perform court-ordered community service?

Periodically, the library accepts court-appointed persons, depending on the offense, to perform volunteer work. Please call Cassandra Jarles, Library Volunteer Coordinator, at 623-930-3544 or email libraryvolunteers@glendaleaz.com.

How can I become a member of the Library Advisory Board?

Help shape the future of the Glendale Public Library by joining the Library Advisory Board. Their role is to advise the City Council on policies related to the administration and provision of library services.
