School & Library Visits

Staff from the Glendale Public Library are happy to participate in school literacy and curriculum nights, or to take part in other events. Library staff members are also available for classroom visits, special storytimes and small group events.

You are also welcome to bring your class or group to visit the library. We offer special storytimes, StoryWalks®, library instruction, and tours for all ages.

Teacher's Collections (Teacher's Boxes)

With a teacher's account, teachers and home educators can check out up to 35 books, CDs, audiobooks and DVDs for classroom use with our Teacher's Collections service. Select titles for your "Teacher's Box" yourself or have the library staff select them for you.

Discover Arizona Wildlife with the Bone Box

Developed by Arizona Game and Fish, the Bone Box offers teachers and environmental educators a unique opportunity to bring hands-on wildlife learning into the classroom. Each box includes educational materials, teaching tools, and a variety of tactile resources — such as real skins and skulls from Arizona mammals — designed to engage students and support wildlife education.

The Bone Box is available for a one-week checkout. To reserve the box, contact Greg at gkinder@glendaleaz.com.

Storytimes

Storytimes aren't just stories! They may include songs, rhymes, fingerplays, guided movement, playtime, and crafts. Storytimes are a great way to build early literacy skills, socialize, and have fun.

Do your kids ever wish they could have a story read to them at any time? They can! Call the Storyline each week to hear a new story read aloud by our storytelling squad! Call 623-930-3600 and select option 7.

Let us help you find some new favorite reads for your kids, teens, and even you! Just complete a short survey to give us a sense of what you or your kids like to read and library staff will email you a personalized list of five to ten titles within three to five days.

Teen Book Boxes

Does your teen need something new to read? Are they looking for something to do? We’ve got you covered! Request a Teen Book Box at your home library and receive a box filled with a craft/activity, three library books to borrow, and other cool stuff, all chosen just for your teen by their personal teen librarian! Everything except the books and the box is theirs to keep. Limit one box per teen, per month. Boxes are available only to teens, ages 12-18. A valid email address and library card number must be provided. Quantities are limited, so be sure to sign up today!

  • 826 Digital - Online platform, aimed at educators, featuring writing lessons that inspire confidence (grades 1-5+).
  • TED-Ed - Hundreds of TED-Ed Animations and TED Talks designed to spark curiosity. You'll also find thousands of video-based lessons organized by subject (grades 3+).
